Applications will open in January 2025 for the 2025-2026 Concerto Competition
All music must be approved by Mr. Grand or Mr. Sweetsir prior to applying.

Audition Date
Live auditions will be held in June 2025 at the Bucks County Community College.

Eligibility
The soloist competition is open to all current YOBC sophomores and juniors in Symphony Orchestra or Concert Winds, in good standing, who will be continuing with YOBC for the 2025-2026 season. Applicants for the competition may audition on strings, wind, brass, or percussion instruments including piano and harp.

Awards
Winners will receive a cash award and will have the opportunity to perform with the Symphony Orchestra or Concert Winds at either the 2025 Fall Concert or the 2026 Spring Concert. The music director and judges will determine the winner(s) and performance date(s). Winners must perform the same piece that they auditioned with.

Requirements
Candidates must prepare one movement, two contrasting movements, or an entire concerto scored for performance with concert band, symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra, or string orchestra and suitable for performance by either the YOBC Symphony Orchestra or Concert Winds. The length of the selection must be between 7 and 12 minutes including repeats. All music must be approved by Mr. Grand or Mr. Sweetsir prior to applying.

Audition Procedure
When the applications are open, all interested students should submit an application by March 31, 2025. Music selections should be approved by Mr. Grand or Mr. Sweetsir by that time. Students who applied will then be assigned an audition time on the June audition date.
