Meet the Concerto Soloist

One YOBC student was selected as soloist, from several highly qualified contenders in this year’s Concerto Competition which was held earlier this year. Congratulations to Ezra Greenberg (cello) who will perform at the YOBC Fall concert on November 21, 2021 at the Delaware Valley University, Doylestown, PA.

Ezra Greenberg is a senior at Pennsbury High School who began cello in fourth grade and joined YOBC in sixth grade. He has studied cello with Charles Forbes and Noelle Grand. Last year he completed ABRSM grade 8 performance level with the highest level of distinction, and he has also participated in PMEA District 11 Orchestra the last two years.

Beyond cello performance, Ezra has volunteered the past three years as a YOBC intern where he has assisted in rehearsals of younger students. Additionally, with YOBC, he created and taught a virtual harmony course. Ezra also volunteers with Positive Notes. For the past ten years, Ezra has studied piano, music theory, and composition at the Westminster Conservatory under the instruction of Julia Kovalev and Eric Houghton. When not involved with music, Ezra is an Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop 30 and is a leader of PHS Mathletes. After graduation, he plans to go to college and study the biological sciences.
