New Student Audition Application

  • We are now accepting new student auditions for the 2024-2025 season – Fall semester.
  • It is best that you fill out this form on a tablet or computer, and not on a phone.
  • This form is for new students only. It should not be used by existing YOBC students.

This form is to be completed by a responsible parent/guardian. In this form, you will be providing information about the student, their school, musical experience, and who your student’s private lessons’ instrumental music teacher is. You will also provide information about how your student will audition, either by submitting an online audition video or by auditioning in-person, when dates are available.

If auditioning online, your student will prepare their audition video before completing this form as you will be providing the links to where you uploaded your student’s completed audition video. Click here for detailed information about creating and submitting an online video audition.

If selecting to audition in-person, when dates are available, you will select the date of your student’s in-person audition. In-person auditions are held at the Bucks County Community College, Newtown Campus, 275 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA, in the Music and Multimedia Building.

YOBC is committed to supporting music education in our schools. Therefore, please keep in mind that YOBC students are required to participate in their school instrumental music program (if such a program exists). YOBC does verify school participation.

PRIVATE INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC LESSONS INFORMATION

In support of their overall musical progress, YOBC students must also take private instrumental music lessons.

First year elementary students who play a band instrument (ie: not a string instrument) are excluded from the private lesson requirement for their first year of membership in YOBC. However, we strongly recommend that they too take private lessons.

AUDITION INFORMATION



HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO AUDITION?
You can submit an online video audition at any time. If you prefer, in-person auditions are also available.

IF YOU WANT TO AUDITION IN-PERSON (IN MAY)
At the audition, you will be able to warm-up in a practice room and then you will be escorted to the audition room to play for the conductors. The audition takes about 15 minutes. Parents are invited to wait in the lobby during the audition process. In-person auditions are held at the Bucks County Community College, Newtown Campus, 275 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA, in the Music and Multimedia Building.
